Surface IT has been licensed and trading in Dhaka since 2019. In the early years it mostly ran courses, teaching design, web and digital skills from an office in Gulshan, with software work running alongside. Today the balance has reversed and the work is software.

The teaching side traded as Surface IT Institute, and you will still find that name on our older material. It has always been the same business. Both trade licences, the 2019 one from Dhaka North and the current one from Dhaka South, name it Surface IT.

The photographs below are from those early years. They are our history, not our present: today Surface IT is an independent studio of one engineer, working from Dhanmondi.

2019

Licensed in Gulshan

Surface IT was registered with a trade licence in Dhaka North and opened its first premises in Gulshan. The licence named the business Surface IT, as the current one still does.

The early years

Mostly teaching

Day to day, Surface IT ran as a training institute, teaching design, web and digital skills to students in Dhaka under the name Surface IT Institute. Software work ran alongside the courses.

Today

Dhanmondi, mostly software

The office moved to Dhanmondi, which sits under Dhaka South and required a fresh trade licence from that authority. The balance has reversed: Surface IT is now an independent studio of one engineer, and its work is software. It builds and operates three products of its own.
